The first Sunday of each month we especially welcome visitors and guests to come learn about Unitarian Universalism and First Parish, established in 1744 as the first parish/meetinghouse (worship and formal community gathering space) in Stoughton.
Feb. 2’s worship topic is the Prayer Shawl Ministry:
Compassion and the love of knitting/crocheting have been combined into a prayerful ministry and spiritual practice that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace, as well as in celebration and joy. Come join us as we celebrate First Parish of Stoughton’s Shawl Ministry.
Jane Mooney brought the Prayer Shawl Ministry to First Parish in 2005 after learning about it at a Ballou-Channing district Womensphere event. Our group has met once a month since then and with prayerful intention have created and given away hundreds of shawls. Jane and members of the group will be leading the service.
