First Parish is seeking a Director of Kids and Youth Program who will work with the younger members of our community to help them develop an appreciation for what a place like First Parish can provide to them as resource during their lives ahead, to help evolve their understanding of the greater world and their own agency, to help them better understand the nuances of interpersonal relationships, and to develop strategies for dealing with challenging news and situations. It is essential that their time with KYP be engaging and would ideally be considered ‘fun’ by the attendees. The content of what happens during KYP time needs to flex with the kids and youth that are involved; this position requires presence and creativity.
First Parish has intentionally moved away from the term ‘Religious Education’ (RE) since we want the program to be more than teaching kids about world religions. We want an open-ended program intended for kids and youth, so that is what we call it.

The KYP Director salary budget averages $800 per month from September to June, to be paid on a monthly basis at the end of each month, and paid at the rate of $30.77 per hour. This is a part-time position and FPUC will handle tax withholdings through our payroll processor. The salary basis assumes an average of 26 hours per month from the mid-August through mid-June (10 months). It is understood that some weeks may require more time than others. In-person attendance of the KYP Director is required on Sundays from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM when there is a normal service scheduled (generally 3, but occasionally 4, Sundays per month); additional program meetings with participants may be required outside of Sunday services, depending upon the final Work Agreement which will be based upon discussions between the KYP Director and the parents/guardians of participants in the Kids and Youth Program.
