“The Acceptance Process” – Lynn Hover

Acceptance is the idea that one becomes resigned to the fact that they can’t change or fix something (or someone). But since it’s an idea, we may be able to change the worry or obsession about the outcome. We may not need to understand why something happened to have acceptance and move forward with our own lives. Is it inevitable or a choice to love, and trust, and move forward? How long does it take? How does faith factor in? Acceptance or suffering… maybe it’s a simple idea… we simply have to change our minds. We’ll explore how the acceptance process can be a healing factor in our lives and how the 3 A’s (Awareness, Acceptance, and Action) may be able to help us through the process.

 Speaker Bio: 
Lynn Hover has been a member of First Parish for about nine years. She lives in Randolph with her husband of 37 years and has three grown sons. She is an advocate for 12-step programs and mental health. She is an Office Support Specialist with the Department of Mental Health, Canton site. At First Parish, she has served on several committees over the years and is currently the Clerk for the Board of Trustees.
