Widening the Circle: Learning and Practicing in Our UU Communities, a Five Points Cluster Shared Worship Service hosted by First Parish Stoughton

Service Description:

While the world may be moving toward ever more connectivity, the blight of political divisions, cultural rifts, and heavy history seem to be driving folks apart. UU churches can be places where our shared values can help address larger social challenges that arise from isolation, fear, and distrust. How can we become community resources that help “widen the circle” for our larger communities as well as those who regularly attend church?

Speaker Bio:

This February 20 shared service will provide an opportunity to reflect on how our unique blend of values and curiosity can truly help make this part of the world a better place. The reflection, in lieu of a sermon, will provide each participating parish with the chance to report on what steps they have already taken and what future endeavors are in the works. This service will serve as a starting point for more shared discussions in the future, including a workshop on the UU 8th principle on March 5.

NOTE: This service will meet in person and also be broadcast on Zoom. We ask that people attending in person wear a face mask to help protect the most vulnerable in our community. Please attend online if you are experiencing COVID symptoms or if you have been in close contact with someone who has recently tested positive for COVID.
