Forgiveness: Listening to Our Anger

***This service is now Online-Only due to the snowstorm.***

Service Description:

Anger has often been a necessary ingredient for bringing about change in society and relationships when things are not just or kind. When anger is unexplored, however, it turns to bitterness and digs in, causing us more harm than the ones we are holding resentments toward. As Marshall Rosenberg, the author of “Non-Violent Communication,” has taught us, “anger is the expression of unmet needs.” Listening to our anger, and the needs it is trying to help us meet, is essential in the forgiveness process.

Elisa will tell stories and share some of her experiences helping herself and others to listen skillfully to their anger as they move toward greater inner peace and empowerment.

Speaker Bio:

Elisa Pearmain has been telling stories professionally for 35 years in schools, libraries, festivals and churches. She grew up in the UUA church in Lincoln, MA, and is the co-author of the UUA Moral Tales curriculum for grades 2-3. Elisa is the award-winning author of two collections of world wisdom tales, and a double CD on Forgiveness, called “Forgiveness: Telling Our Stories in New Ways.” She is also a licensed psychotherapist in private practice and current chairperson of the Healing Story Alliance.
