Service Description:

“Pride Sunday” hosted by the First Parish Welcoming Committee – The Welcoming Congregation Committee (WCC) is a group of diverse church members who are focused on the rights and acceptance of all LGBTQ individuals. So many LGBTQ people have been hurt or turned away from religious organizations. The WCC offers opportunities for our church members and others to learn and grow in their knowledge of the history, challenges, and joys of being LGBTQ.

First Parish became an official Welcoming Congregation in April 2019 after working through the criteria set by the UUA. Each year we must renew our certification by doing the Five Practices of Welcome Renewal.

In the spirit of love, we celebrate the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) Pride Sunday. We invite you to come to the Zoom service in colorful garb to show your support of and celebration with the LGBTQ community in our congregation and the world as a whole.

From the UUA website:
“Each of us has worth and dignity, and that worth includes our gender and our sexuality. As Unitarian Universalists (UUs), we not only open our doors to people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, we value diversity of sexuality and gender and see it as a spiritual gift. We create inclusive religious communities and work for LGBTQ justice and equity as a core part of who we are. All of who you are is sacred. All of who you are is welcome.”
